Shayla is an experienced litigator, having litigated family, criminal, and civil cases throughout her legal career. Since 2010, Shayla has practiced law in a state government agency (as a contract attorney for the Attorney General of Texas), as a solo practitioner, as a member of a small firm, and as an associate for one of the largest law firms in Collin County.
Shayla is a dedicated mother of five (her two biological children plus three “bonus babies” through marriage), who range in age from 12 to 26. Shayla enjoys volunteering in each of her children’s schools and has been a member of the parent/teacher association on each child’s school campus
For nearly 20 years, Shayla has been an active member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. She is currently a member of the North Central Texas Alumnae Chapter and has served in various roles including as the Recording Secretary and Physical and Mental Health Committee Chair. Shayla is active in the Republican Party of Collin County and is a member of Golden Corridor Republican Women where she has served on the executive board for several years and is the current Chaplain.
Shayla is a member of the Collin County Bar Association, the Dallas County Bar Association, and the Collin County Women Lawyers Association. Shayla is a member of Buckingham Road Church of Christ and is a bible study teacher and children’s church leader.
